Return of the B-Movie Queens!

The 80's had so many memorable Hollywood leading ladies, but there was also a whole host of B-Movie Queens, here are some of my favourite stars in some fun scenes:

Linda Blair in Savage Streets - Linda takes revenge on a gang of vicious punks after they rape her handicapped sister one day after school...



Sybil Danning in The Howling II: Your Sister is a Werewolf - This is the genuine ending to this crazy ass movie! The movie theme is performed by Steve Parsons with footage of good old Sybil ripping her top off over and over again with reactions from other cast members taken from scenes in the movie, poor Christopher Lee! Pure trash!



Sandahl Bergman in Hell Comes to Frogtown - Sandahl has been captured by King Toty and she is forced to perform the Dance of the Three Snakes, hotness!



Pia Zadora in Butterfly - Pia won a Golden Globe for this, she plays a young girl who lives out in the Nevada Desert, when her estranged father comes to visit their relationship takes a forbidden turn...



Brigitte Nielsen in Red Sonja - Brigitte plays the feisty Sonja in this bad movie classic, in this clip she fights to the death with evil Queen Gedren (Sandahl Bergman).



Linnea Quigley in Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers - The Virgin Dance of the Double Chainsaws, this movie is TERRIBLE! hehe



Morgan Fairchild in Phantom of the Mall - This terrible movie is elevated by the presence of the fabulous Morgan, the patron saint of this blog!

Hercules (1983)

How have I lived all these years without seeing this slice of b-movie perfection. Hercules starring Lou Ferrigno (The Incredible Hulk, himself!) and Sybil Danning (Howling II: Stirba - Werewolf Bitch) as the evil princess Ariadne! This not very faithful telling of the Greek legends of Hercules (I'm not sure the producers even know which one!)I think it would be best to describe it as a collage of ideas set to some of the dodgiest CGI you will ever see and some seriously groovy Casio keyboard sound effects thrown in for good measure. Most of the 'actors' are dubbed and the sets are a mixture of papermache and cardboard! Somehow all of this makes for the perfect Saturday afternoon film. Watch out for the hilariously bad costumes - especially those worn by the 'gods'! Hercules is apparently from outerspace now too...

As you will notice from the box, this is a double feature, so expect the sequel to get a little mention shortly. This was basically an Italian movie dressed up a little for the US market with a couple of names to help sell it. It's from Golan-Globus Productions who also gave us such epics as Supergirl and Masters of the Universe, although this makes those two look like $100 million dollar features by comparison.

The fabulous Sybil is enjoying something of a comeback having spent so many years out of action. After making her own movie LA Bounty and appearing in the dreadful Fred Olen Ray movie Phantom Empire, she called it a day in 1989. Out of nowhere she re-appeared in Grindhouse and Halloween last year, as well as the independent drama Jump. Now she will appear alongside Elvira Mistress of the Dark herself, Cassandra Peterson, in a new indie horror flick entitled All About Evil. I believe she is even pitching some of her own ideas for new movies and is looking sensational. However, her next big project could very well be joining the cast of Here's 'The Lair' - the vampire themed spin-off of Dante's Cove, produced by Olen Ray. If it's true I can't wait!

Chained Heat, 1983

CAST: And what a cast! We have Linda Blair of The Exorcist fame as fresh meat in a tough women's prison. Sybil Danning is the leader of the white gang and Tamara Dobson (that's Cleopatra Jones herself!) as the leader of the rather small black gang. Stella Stevens is a rather butch and ambitious prison captain who pushes drugs and pimps the girls with John Vernon as the sleazy warden.

PLOT: Poor young Carol is sent to prison for dangerous driving. She encounters all manner of depravity while inside; rape, drug dealing, and brutal beatings - and that's just the staff!

THOUGHTS: Amongst the trashiest movies I have ever seen! And I loved every minute. I'm not all that familiar with the 'Women in Prison' (or WIP) genre, my knowledge being limited to a few seasons of Bad Girls. Well let me tell you, I am determined to be ignorant no longer. If Chained Heat is anything to go by the WIP will become a staple of this blog. My favourite scenes were the vicious exchanges between rival gang leaders Tamara Dobson and Sybil Danning.

This movie has everything, shower scenes, copious amounts of cat fights, brutal violence, and lots of language. The sleazy warden who makes porno movies of himself and the inmates is great fun too. The showdown between Linda Blair and Stella Stevens is pretty fun too. The movie takes every cliche in the book and just goes for it to great effect! Sadly the only versions available are slightly cut, they remove part of a scene in which one of the guards is murdered with a great big hook! It's only toned down, not removed totally thankfully.
